For our client Airbus Defence and Space GmbH in Immenstaad, we are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with a focus on Ground Support Systems. In this role, you will develop and implement technical designs for mobile infrastructures – including mounting kits, IT enclosures, HVAC components, and customized defense solutions. The focus lies on safety-relevant construction, usability, and performance – from initial design to support during production and series integration. Tasks
- Design of complex mechanical systems for mobile ground facilities, such as installation kits, HVAC modules, or IT hardware enclosures
- Implementation of system-level concepts, system architectures, and design specifications according to requirement documents and target cost
- Independent preparation of detailed technical documentation using design tools such as CATIA V5, Inventor, and SAP PLM
- Definition and creation oftesting protocols and assembly documentation (MDP and test specifications)
- Close support ofprototyping, integration, and serial production workflows
- Compliance with security guidelines and export control restrictions in all project phases
- Collaboration with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, systems engineering, and procurement
- Monitoring and assurance of engineering standards across the development lifecycle
Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, HVAC, or other technical studies (at least Bachelor level)
- Several years of experience in a technical construction or design role, preferably in the defense, automotive, or heavy equipment sector
- Hands-on knowledge in special plant construction, HVAC systems, or industrial enclosures is considered a plus
- Confident with CATIA V5; experience with Inventor and SAP PLM preferred
- Proficient in MS Office and familiar with creating structured documentation
- Fluent German (min. C1) and business-fluent English (min. C1) required
- Independent and structured working style, combined with team orientation and attention to technical compliance
- Position is subject to export control regulations and security clearance checks and a Valid and unrestricted work permit for the European Union (no student visa) is mandatory
